“The future of India lies in its villages.”
- Mahatma Gandhi
In a time when the pressure on land incessantly grows and farmers and people connected to rural economies face numerous challenges, the School of Livelihood & Rural Development (SLRD), an initiative of Gyanav Social Welfare Society, strives to revive the traditional Indian rural economic model of self-sufficiency.
The organization strongly believes that sustainable development can be achieved by empowering budding rural entrepreneurs with skill development, design innovations and providing global marketing platform.
Living Roots Handmade (LRH) was thus created to provide an umbrella brand under which products created through SLRD’s entrepreneurship activities can be retailed globally, at par with other products produced commercially.
Designing a more sustainable fashion industry, which is rooted in the traditional Indian crafts and designs, is at the heart of the brand “LIVING ROOTS HANDMADE”.
The traditional Indian village economy has been self-sufficient and self-providing for centuries. Arts and Crafts have traditionally been one of the major pillars supporting the humongous structure of the rural economy. But today this sector is viewed as “decorative, peripheral and elitist".
Our goal is to create an ecosystem, which focuses on reviving dying arts and crafts of India and integrating them with contemporary design and efficient eco-friendly manufacturing system to create a financially viable businesses.
We depend only on the quality and contemporary aesthetics of our products to gain and retain business.
LIVING ROOTS HANDMADE has a long-term commitment to artisans and customers. The artisans are stake holders in the venture and together the team strives to present to the customers, classy, stylish high-quality products.
LIVING ROOTS HANDMADE hopes to delight with a thoughtfully curated collection of apparels, jewelry, decor, gifts, accessories and much more. Each piece is hand crafted by artisans skilled and nurtured under our livelihood programs.
